What are the benefits of working collaboratively on new media?

 Another post for school! Yahoo!

What are the benefits of working collaboratively on new media, and what are some examples of collaborative projects?

There are quite a few advantages to working with a group of people on the same project.  The first obvious advantage to me is that you don’t have to tackle a big project all by yourself.  You can lessen the load by delegating roles and duties that may fit one another’s skill sets better.   When you talk and discuss projects ideas you can usually come up with a more unique idea than if you came up with it on your own.  Talking and discussing with a group gives you the ability to grow and build off of one another’s thoughts.

One example of when collaborative projects work great for new media is my advance web design class.  On a recent project we were assigned, we had to build a simple web page for our syllabus.  After collaborating and discussing design ideas we were able to come up with a really awesome idea.  We were even able to assign the jobs of coding based on our strengths and weaknesses.

How powerful are images in new media?

For school I was assigned to write my answers in a form of a new media. So enjoy:)

How powerful are images in new media?

Images are a very important and powerful aspect of new media.  Whether the images are picture or video, both can enhance the way we perceive and understand a piece of new media.   Images have a profound effect on the brain.  Think of all the social media outlets you use.  Do you ever get on one just to read and not actually see images.  One of Facebook's main purposes in the ability to connect with family and friends by sharing photos and videos online.

Here is one example of how images have over words when projecting a message:  Recently here in Utah we experienced fire season.  For me it is one thing to hear a report about a fire rather than to actually see a huge blazing ball of fire on the television.

Some blogs can be based more on the images more than the words as well.  For instance many fashion bloggers post more pictures than actual words to show fashion trends instead of just describing outfits with a bunch of long paragraphs.
